Tomorrow will see Foals participate in 2023’s Record Store Day with the release of ‘Life Is Dub’ in a beautifully designed gold 12” vinyl package. The record sees producer Dan Carey subvert Foals’ critically adored ‘Life Is Yours’ album by filtering the joyous, effervescent ambience of the original songs into brooding dub mixes, with deep bass grooves, and myriad reverbs, echoes and filters.

In addition to the release of ‘Life Is Dub’, Foals further commemorate Record Store Day by launching a special raffle to support War Child UK. The winner will receive a remarkable Rega Planar 3 turntable, which has been signed by Foals. A one-of-a-kind prize, the Planar 3 has won the What Hi-Fi? product of the year for six consecutive years. Ten signed copies of ‘Life Is Dub’ are also available. Tickets for the raffle are available HERE until April 30th, with ticket prices ranging from £5 for one ticket to £30 for fifteen tickets.

Foals today also release Dan Carey’s new version of ‘Life Is Yours’. Elevating the disco-house beats of the original to  exude a hallucinatory, hypnotic vibe, this new take grows in intensity as it unfolds. It is representative of two approaches Dan Carey took to ‘Life Is Dub’. For the other up-tempo tracks he would program a new beat around the original kick and snare drums. Meanwhile, others focused on dropping down to a half-time, deep bass style.

‘Life Is Yours’ is the second track to preview ‘Life Is Dub’ after the recently released ‘2am’, which received airplay on Radio 1’s Chillest Show with Sian Eleri, while further editorial coverage for the album included The Line of Best Fit, MOJO and Record Collector.

Foals’ upcoming live schedule gets underway next month with a series of intimate sold-out UK shows hosted by select indie record stores. Further summer highlights include headline sets at Reading and Leeds, a North American tour as special guests to Paramore, plus shows across Europe and in Mexico. Please see here for a list of all Foals’ upcoming tour dates.
