With her debut album, The Lost Ones just weeks away from release, Florrie reveals a stunning new single, Never Far From Paradise. Listen here and pre-order the album here.
Filled with intricate melodies, emotive lyrics and an anthemic, upbeat chorus, Never Far From Paradise is sure to be a fan favourite. This is the third song to be heard from the album, The Lost Ones and the final taste ahead of the album’s release on 14th June. Speaking of the track, multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, and songwriter Florrie said, “I wrote Never Far From Paradise looking back on a difficult period of time in my life, in a way giving advice to the person I was then, reminding them that even in what feel like the darkest times, there’s always a light around the corner. I wanted to capture a feeling of optimism and euphoria in the production, to counteract the more poignant lyrics, and I hope that’s what people take away from the track when they listen. It’s my favourite track to play live, there’s something really powerful about singing and drumming this one together!”
The release of Never Far From Paradise is accompanied by a gorgeous video, shot by Archie Campbell and edited by Joe Desantis. The video shows Florrie running through a city and ending up in the idyllic countryside, reaching a place of freedom to reflect the journey within the lyrics. Florrie explains, “I always imagined running to and from something when I was writing this song. Running from the past, from the things or people that hold you back, from the secrets that you tell no-one, and running back to yourself, to a place where you can feel some peace, to somewhere where nobody can find you.”
Florrie’s debut album of pearlescent pop, The Lost Ones, comes after a run of independently released singles, including 2019’s Grey’s Anatomy-soundtracking Borderline. The 12-track album was predominantly written and produced by Florrie and Xenomania founder, Brian Higgins and also sees her collaborate with hit-maker Takura Tendayi (Rihanna, Chase and Status). Speaking of The Lost Ones, she said, “I have been waiting to make my debut album for the last 12 years and it deserved all the time and love I’ve put into it.”
