‘English Weather’ was written by the band during the ‘Barn Sessions’, as they’ve come to be known. In-between festivals and shows this summer, the band set up their live kit, and lived in an actual working barn in the middle of a farm in Bedfordshire. Camping out, hanging out with local farmers and living off the land for 6 weeks, the band spent all day and night writing and rehearsing a slew of new songs, which will make up their debut. To thank the farmers and locals for their ‘patience’, the band ended their time at the barn, by playing a full set of songs for them in a field – the inaugural ‘FEET-FEST’?
Prior to those writing sessions, FEET had quite the year. George (Jeep), Oli, Harry, Callum & (newcomer) Ben formed in Coventry at University in 2017. The five-piece shot out of the traps at a pace with their attention grabbing first single ‘Petty Thieving’. Following a management frenzy, the band promptly signed with Q Prime Management for the world, who swiftly connected them with hip London indie YALA Records for their debut 7″ release of said single.
The digital and vinyl release of ‘Petty Thieving’ quickly garnered a host of media support across both the indie and national media, and the band worked their way around the country playing shows and gathering hordes of new fans with their raucous stage antics, and unique sounding, hook filled, danceable brand of indie punk rock.
FEET followed that activity with another critically praised release, ‘Backseat Driver’ – which came with an animated video clip, created by lead singer George. The early taster singles picked up a host of top-quality support, including the likes of Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Radio X, NME, The Sunday Times Culture, DIY Magazine, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit and many more.
Whilst all juggling their final year at Uni in Coventry, the band hit the road for the long hot summer of 2018, travelling the length and breadth of the UK in a tiny hatchback, for a host of key festival appearances (inc Field Day, Truck, Electric Fields, Tramlines and many more), headline shows of their own, and more supports with their old friend Declan McKenna.
FEET recently announced their first UK and Irish headline tour, taking their hugely entertaining live show on the road for 12 dates next year that kick off in Portsmouth on 27th February, finishing in Dublin March 15th. These will also be the first live appearances with new drummer Ben (formerly of Dead Pretties). They’re also currently in the studio for the final weeks of recording for their debut album, which will be released in late summer 2019.
The band are joined in the studio by producer Cam Blackwood (Jamie T, London Grammar, Billie Marten. George Ezra), with the first fruit of those sessions, ‘English Weather’, to be revealed on 25th January 2019.
With the new album almost completed, a UK headline tour imminent, and their triumphant EU music industry showcase at Eurosonic done, FEET are poised to be the band on everyone’s lips by the summer of 2019.
