Iconic K-pop group EXO release their new special album, DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING [AVAILABLE HERE]. Watch the video for the title track “Don’t fight the feeling” HERE. Breaking their own personal record, the album sold over 1.22 million pre-orders.
Following the cheerful and uptempo single, the five-song collection ranges from funky retro sounds to smooth R&B, closing out with a warm and sentimental acoustic pop track. The album shows off EXO’s range, impressive vocals, and catchy melodies.
To celebrate the album, EXO also launched a web game for fans, EXO-SHIP SAGA. The game was designed in the album’s retro space-based concept, and fans who play are able to collect album-related images as rewards when target scores are reached.
This is EXO’s first release since their acclaimed 2019 full-length album OBSESSION. Billboard wrote that on OBSESSION, EXO “perfected their formula” by adding “atypical sounds to their deep discography before diving straight into feel-good funk and ballads.” Forbes shared, “EXO truly proved the strength of their brand by closing out the decade with one of their strongest works to date.” Teen Vogue wrote, “Their musical prowess speaks for itself.”
EXO, which is derived from ‘EXOPLANET,’ a term denoting the planets outside the solar system, is a 9-member K-pop boy band. After making their anticipated debut in April 2012, EXO is now one of the “biggest K-pop boy bands in the world.” Forbes noted their immense popularity on its “Korea Power Celebrity List,” naming them one of the Top 5 K-pop groups in 2014, 2017, and 2018.
EXO’s first album XOXO (2013), featuring their breakthrough hit “Growl,” was a critical and commercial success. The album sold over 1 million copies, making them the first million-selling Korean artist in 12 years. Their subsequent releases also achieved strong sales, with each full-length album selling more than 1 million copies. EXO’s album Don’t Mess Up My Tempo (2018) is their highest-charting album on the U.S. Billboard 200, debuting at number 23.
