Following the release of her sophomore album Wonder last week, Frances has released the official music video for her track, Everything In Between. Preceding the heart-warming animated video for Other Side Of The World, the story continues to follow felt couple Sven and Greta, this time to the sea for a fishing trip which ends in disaster. Created by artist, film-maker and model maker Rachael Olga Lloyd, every part of the set and the characters were meticulously hand-made especially for this video series. Rachael said of the creative process, “The song explores the challenges faced in a relationship with all the problems life can throw at you. I wanted to visualise this idea with a couple out on a boat in the unpredictable nature of the ocean. It was so satisfying to make every little detail by hand and then paint it all one colour. This film also had a lot of big complicated sets which were fun to shoot; from the mechanical wave system, to the falling shot through a crevasse of coral to the sea-bed.”
Frances has said of the release, “For this new album, I really wanted to have music videos that were a little different. I love puppetry and when I saw Rachael Olga Lloyd’s work I knew instantly that she would create something beautiful. She’s so sensitive to the textures in the music and her visuals reflect the dynamics and the journey of the music so well. She made everything you see in the video by hand which makes it even more special to watch.” Everything In Between was added straight into Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist (781k likes), upon album release last week. Triumphant album Wonder consists of eight tracks written, produced and performed entirely by the songstress, and certainly proves Frances’ pop star prowess goes further than just her singing abilities. Frances has explained, “Wonder is the album I’ve always wanted to make but never knew how, until now. Writing and producing it myself and having that singular vision has been the most important part of the whole thing. It wasn’t made in an expensive studio, it was all made and recorded in my home and those circumstances allowed me to be totally fearless. It’s literally me, wrapped up in a body of work and that makes it scary but so special to release.” Wonder is currently sitting high in the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Top 5, and is available to stream/download here.
Frances has recently launched series 2 of her podcast, ‘Ditty In A Dash’. It consists of Frances joining forces with some of her close artist friends, and writing part of a song in just 15 minutes. Latest episodes feature Nina Nesbitt, Violet Skies and Lauren Aquilina, and can all be heard here. Last year, Frances joined hit-maker MNEK, Ella Eyre and Becky Hill on a podcast episode of BBC’s Music Life, titled ‘The Science Behind The Perfect Hit’. Listen here.
2016 saw Frances score nominations for both the BRITS Critics’ Choice Award and the BBC Sound Of poll.
