UK-based French violinist Esther Abrami continues to champion women composers, with the release of her new single ’Tomorrow’, written by Dutch composer and pianist Annelie.

Speaking about the single, Esther says: “With this new single, I wanted to continue to spotlight women composers, because even nowadays they are still in the minority. I think young women and girls starting out in the classical music world need to have role models and I am dedicated to expanding the repertoire written by women and showcasing their talents”.
She adds “This morceau is very moving. It’s like an endless, beautiful dream, with no beginning or end. It was fantastic for me to be able to work with a contemporary composer and having this direct contact with Annelie was incredible. During the recording we were able to exchange ideas and even tweak the original work a little as we went along – it was a unique and empowering experience!”
Understanding the power behind visuals to make her music accessible to an audience beyond classical music lovers, the single is accompanied by a video. Esther explains “On the piano line, some notes stay all along as if in perpetual movement; we feel transported, like when travelling. That’s why we wanted a video that keeps moving. We went to the Barbican and placed the camera on a moving stand, while I walked with my violin, giving this idea of motion”.
In 2019, Esther Abrami became the first classical musician ever to be nominated in the Social Media Superstar category at the Global Awards. Last month, she won ‘Best Influential Star Award’ at the i Success Awards, held by Forbes France on the prestigious red carpet of the Festival de Cannes. Her debut single, composed by Clara Schumann and released on International Women’s Day, boasts almost 400k views and counting.
Esther has established herself as one of the figureheads of the new generation of young classical musicians. Reaching millions through TikTok and Instagram, Esther is making the genre more accessible to listeners, who in the past may have never listened to classical music before. So far, her passion for music has united more than 290k followers on TikTok, 235k followers on Instagram and 120k followers on YouTube.
She is equally at home in the classical world as when covering modern hits or challenging herself to learn how to play songs in just one hour (see her version of Griff’s ‘Black Hole’ or covering ‘good4u’ by Olivia Rodrigo). Esther studied at the Royal College of Music and was awarded a full scholarship for a Master’s degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and graduated in June. She plays a fine Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin, kindly loaned to her through the Beare’s International Violin Society.
Listed by Julian Lloyd Webber as one of the ‘30 under 30’ classical artists to watch on Classic FM, she is one of the most promising young classical music artists of her generation. With a highly-anticipated debut album on its way, Esther has fast become a new artist to watch both in and beyond the classical genre.
