Rising Scottish artist Ess_Gee releases her second single ‘Pyromaniac Lover’ on Single Track. You can listen to the track here
Inspired by her friends’ feelings of being trapped and undervalued while craving a more creative future, the dreamy pop track combines Ess_Gee’s breathy vocals with her signature euphoric synth band sound. The Glasgow-based songwriter and musician, real-name Shanine Gallagher, worked on the track with producer Joe McAlinden from Single Track.
Ess_Gee says of the new song: “‘Pyromaniac Lover’ is about the struggle of balancing work life and relationships outside of work. I guess, it’s mainly about how most of my friends feel they are unable to pursue their creative careers, because they are stuck in work which does not allow any time or space to explore their talent…It was this idea of feeling alone even though people were around you all of the time.”
The single, which is out today, once again demonstrates Ess_Gee’s talent as a songwriter with honest, heartfelt and relatable lyrics. The new track follows the release of debut single ‘Bubble Queen’ in March with more single releases planned for later this year.
Inspired by acts including Wolf Alice, Chromatics, Desire and Pure Bathing Culture, Ess_Gee’s music fuses pop, electronica, shoegaze and indie, with songs about friendship and survival whilst also drawing on the mood of her rural birthplace in Lochaline in the Scottish Highlands.
Single Track Records is a joint venture between Joe McAlinden and music management company ie:music. ‘Pyromaniac Lover’ is the second release on the new label, which is based in Strachur, Argyll, on the west coast of Scotland.
