Melbourne folk-pop singer/songwriter, Elsie Lange is excited to announce the release of her debut EP, Talk To Me, August 21 via Wing Sing Records. To celebrate she shares the title track “Talk To Me”.
Having fronted garage-pop band, pting and performed live with Elizabeth, Elsie Lange steps out solo with the release of her debut EP, Talk To Me, which is at times light-hearted and sometimes a serious exploration of love and love lost, belonging and of the complexities of being a woman.
Originally from Alice Springs, Elsie grapples with the distance between the city and desert, exploring what it means to be confused and very far from home. “Adelaide” is a “homage to all the goofy and gorgeous love songs that have come before,” explains Elsie. While elsewhere she delves into vulnerability and learning, seeking to contrast moderately difficult themes of remorse (“Tulips”), confusion, agency (“Vessel”) and growth over bright guitar and synth, while final track and title track, “Talk To Me” is a heavier-hitting reminder of how hard all those things can be to navigate.
Written over the course of a year, Talk To Me, brings together influences from musicians like Nick Cave and Sharon Van Etten to create songs that reflect Elsie’s own experiences. Whilst she called on rising Melbourne producer, Calum Newton (Amyl & The Sniffers, Pinch Points, Culte) to achieve this sonic goal.
