DMA’S release Orbital remix of their single ‘Life is A Game Of Changing’. The legendary electronic duo put their spin on this euphoric track, resulting in an anthemic techno inspired dance floor filler.
“It was great fun remixing DMA’S –‘Life is a Game of Changing’. It was really nice to have such a great a vocal to work with.We don’t take on a lot of remixes, but with this one we felt we could really add our Orbital DNA to the DMA’S!We are really looking forward to playing it out in our DJ sets this year.“
Inspired by the early 90s rave scene, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is the second single to drop from their recently announced third studio album ‘THE GLOW’ which is due for release Friday 24th April.
One aspect of the track came from an old demo recorded above the Botany Bay Hotel while Johnny and Mason we’re living upstairs. After not being finished, or finding a place in previous records, the band used it in their performances as an entrance song. Johnny came back to the bones of the track while living in Edinburgh and fleshed out the idea, before bringing it back to Mason & Tommy to add their parts and finish off ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ as a song.
Sitting in striking contrast to the song’s repetitive structure, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ is about humanity’s struggle to be adaptable, as creatures who are fundamentally resistant to change. Breaking away from the minimalist electronica movement, ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ features unapologetically busy beatscapes, a driving 4/4 pace and an adrenaline-pumping chorus showcasing Tommy O’Dell’s signature euphoric vocals.
Produced and mixed by Stuart Price (Madonna, The Killers, New Order), ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ joins 2019’s ‘Silver’, the band’s first release from ‘THE GLOW’. ‘Silver’ is the band’s fastest streaming song to date, with over 6 million streams to date. The track was playlisted for over 3 months at UK radio.
2019 saw the Sydney natives – as well as recording ‘THE GLOW’ – play sold out shows across the UK and Ireland, support Liam Gallagher’s UK arena tour and sell 5 thousand tickets to their March 2020 Brixton Academy show in less than 24 hours. This year, the band will play Manchester’s Sounds of the City festival, headlining the 8 thousand capacity Castlefield Bowl on 9th July (with tickets selling out in a couple of hours), before embarking on their May UK album tour. They will also headline both Live At Leeds and Hit The North Festivals, perform at Kendal Calling, Truck Festival & Tramlines and are main support for Gerry Cinnamon at Hampden Park, Glasgow this summer.
