Singer-songwriter Dekel has released the brand new single and video ‘Makes Me Feel Good’ taken from her upcoming album ‘Desert Moon’, out 8th September.
‘Makes Me Feel Good’ highlights the optimistic point of view Dekel has on life. The ukulele-driven melody of “Makes Me Feel Good” highlights the singer’s light-hearted and joyful demeanour, radiating a laid-back yet comforting atmosphere.
On the track, Dekel Says: ‘”Makes me feel good” was written as a result of a notebook I have where I write 3 good things that happened each day. Like a thank you notebook. It’s an excellent habit and a great exercise that I wanted to expand into a song.
By words, languages and communication we have the opportunity to expand our reality or to narrow it. I choose to expand it. It’s a good reminder to look at what you have and gained every day and be thankful. It will return to you tenfold.’
The captivating video for “Makes Me Feel Good”, explores the singer’s profound appreciation for the serene wonders of nature. The visuals transport us through Dekel’s tranquil moments of joy, where we encounter a delightful array of wildlife, mesmerizing waterfalls, and comforting flowers that beautifully compliment the song.
‘Desert Moon’ was mostly written on Zoom, in lockdown. Dekel would write the songs and send them to producer Jonathan Quarmby (Ian Brown, Richard Hawley, Mika, Sam Ryder, Lewis Capaldi) who added his particular brand of magic.
The album consistently emphasizes the wonders of nature, with Dekel dedicating her time to assisting savannah creatures in the nearby countryside of Tel-Aviv. She explains, ‘I work with the big beasts, feeding and maintaining herds of antelope, zebra and rhino. I take care of them and I feed them.’
‘Desert Moon’ is infused with influences that reflect a variety of inspirations, blending elements reminiscent of Bjork and Kate Bush with the vibrant Latin rhythms of Astrid Gilberto, the captivating sounds of Zach Condon’s Beirut, and the unique style of PJ Harvey. These flavours of inspiration permeate throughout the record, creating a rich and diverse musical tapestry.
‘Makes Me Feel Good’ is the fifth release from the album following on from the title track ‘Desert Moon’, uplifting anime refencing ‘Cartoon Movie’ sleek Latin-influenced ‘Always Summer Somewhere’ , and the brilliantly inventive folk-pop track ‘Permanent and One Time Way’.
Already a cutting-edge sensation at home, plans for a London live show are soon to be announced.
