Cosima has today revealed her new single Close To You (Moonlighting) and its accompanying, self-directed video. The track is the first new music from Cosima since the release of R U Lonely 2? in February of this year. It was written with Matt Parad who shares production duties with Sega Bodega and Duncan James, while Grammy winning audio engineer Alex Tumay is responsible for the mix. It is the initial offering from a series of new songs to be released in the coming months.
Speaking about Close To You (Moonlighting), Cosima explains:
“You were something cruel moonlighting as something special” was the line I wrote in my notebook while I was in the relationship that inspired the song. Some things you can’t see for what they are until they are over. This song is about exactly that’.
Having released the acclaimed South Of Heaven EP in 2016, as well as a number of standout singles including Girls Who Get Ready and To Build A House, Cosima has already received lots of attention within the mainstream press and radio worlds. Dazed included her in their ‘Dazed 100’ and she counts the likes of Zane Lowe, Vogue and i-D as fans.
Cosima recently set up her own label South Of Heaven Records, who will release her new music in partnership with London based creative artist services company Platoon. She has always treated each part of the creative process as equally important and is just as invested in her visuals and videos as she is in making and writing music. She directed and starred in the video for Close To You (Moonlighting) and will make an accompanying video for each new track she puts out over the next few months.
Ultimately Cosima’s motivation is always to tell stories and self – express in as honest a way as possible, laying everything on the line as she always has done.
