Following the recent release of his impressive Heroine EP, mercurial vocalist, musician and rapper Col3trane today shares the brand new single ‘Rendezvous’, an intoxicating collaboration with breakout newcomer Miraa May. Alongside the track, Cole shares its official video, a stark black and white clip awash with mystery and misdirection, playing with shadowy forms to create something instantly striking, a perfect companion piece to the enveloping duet.
The prodigal young talent is currently on tour in mainland Europe ahead of his upcoming London headliner at Scala next week, rounding off a busy year of touring which has included a maiden sold out North American run and a pair of appearances at this year’s Coachella. Cole will begin 2020 with shows in Australia and New Zealand, including performances at Laneway Festival.
Born to American and Egyptian parents, Col3trane’s musical upbringing was cross-cultural. Developing an instinct for rhythm and melody, Col3trane drew affiliations to various rap and hip-hop collectives across the UK and met collaborators including J Moon and Lauren Ralph, producers of his debut singles and mixtape – 2017’s Tsarina, described by Pigeons and Planes as “one of the best debut projects in recent years”.
Cole followed up with the critically-acclaimed follow up project, B.O.O.T., a unique combination of emotionally intelligent lyricism, future-facing beats, winning plaudits from the likes of Crack, The Fader, Hypebeast, High Snobiety, i-D, GRM Daily, Trench and more.
Cole finished his breakout 2018 with sold out dates across Australia and Europe, including a very special headline show at London’s Village Underground in October and a follow-up headline slot at Annie Mac’s AMP. He also landed his first magazine cover, with an appearance on Arena Homme +’s 25th anniversary issue shot by Alasdair McLellan, before a nod on the MTV Brand New 2019 shortlist.
His star continued to rise throughout 2019, as he shared the immensely impressive new EP, Heroine. The six track-collection featured the huge Goldlink-featuring ‘Superpowers’ as well as the Raye and DJDS collaboration ‘The Fruits’ and ‘Problems In Us’, which features production work from London-based producer Sega Bodega.
Making moves across the Atlantic with appearances at Coachella and a sizeable first North American tour, as Cole readies new material, he stands as one of the UK’s most talented young artists, continuing to push boundaries and establish himself as someone to watch for the remainder of this year, next and beyond.
