Blending house beats, pop production and psychedelic rock with a sumptuous graphic novel aesthetic, Child of The Parish are emerging as one of the UK’s most imaginative rising propositions. Recent singles ‘Forever’s Not Enough’ and ‘Midas Touch’ have instigated mounting acclaim while the duo have also picked up key initial airplay from Radio 1, 6 Music and BBC Introducing.
Now Child of the Parish have teamed up with another genre-exploring artist in the shape of The Magician for his remix of ‘Forever’s Not Enough’. Listen HERE.
Child of the Parish’s multi-faceted style opens up a world of possibilities for remixes. The Magician reimagines ‘Forever’s Not Enough’ by putting it in the context of the late ‘80s as the distinction between disco and house began to become blurred. It’s not pure nostalgia, however, with hints of the contemporary style of Purple Disco Machine or Tensnake working into the invigorating remix.
Ben Vella says, “We are very excited to announce the first official remix of a Child of the Parish track, The Magician’s remix of ‘Forever’s Not Enough’. We’ve been a fan of his since he first started putting tunes out on Kitsuné and a lot of you probably know his massive remix of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’. He’s brought an 80’s disco vibe to ‘Forever’s Not Enough’ which we’re really loving, it’s really exciting to finally hear another artist’s take on one of our tunes as we’re such big remix fans in general. Enjoy!”
The Magician adds, “The original version instantly made me think of Empire of The Sun or Tame Impala of which I’m a huge fan! The idea I had from the start was to rearrange it with big synth chords and a rock/techno/disco style beat from the early ‘00s. I’m picturing a whole stadium crowd getting their lighters out when the big break hits.”
