With tickets like gold-dust for the Chameleons Vox’s recent SOLD OUT show at Manchester O2 Ritz last year; those who may have missed-out can take heart as the band announce plans to take fans back-to-the-future at a huge gig in 2020…

Presenting:

Chameleons: Home Is Where The Heart Is…2020:
‘Resurrection – The Academy Set From June 2000’

With demand to see the annual pre-Christmas homecoming of the cult Manchester outfit at an all-time high, Chameleons are pleased to reveal some spectacular plans for what will be the seventh edition of ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is’.

Few bands are granted a second shot to return to their career peaks, but on Saturday 19th December 2020 Chameleons will do just that as they headline the major stage of Manchester Academy for the first time in 2 decades…

There are some gigs in every band’s career that simply stand out from the pack. Ask any Chameleons die-hard fan and they’ll tell you that the band’s show at Manchester Academy in the blazing hot summer of June 2000 was precisely one of those. With the 2000 plus crowd baying for “more” long after the lights went up after a blistering second encore of ‘Don’t Fall’ and a deafening, feedback-skewered cover of Alternative TV’s ‘Splitting In Two’; 20 years later, those calls will be answered.

Following the sell-out success and runaway enthusiasm amongst fan circles for the band’s ‘Return of The Roughnecks – The Ritz Set 1985’ last year; Chameleons now look to recapture the magic of another of their seminal performances. This December, Chameleons’ ‘Resurrection’ show will take the Manchester Academy audience back in time to June 2000 as they recreate one of their most legendary sets in its full and complete glory.

For some the Academy gig will be a second chance to re-live one of their favourite ever performances, for others a redemptive opportunity to finally say “I Was There” too. From the reverberating bars of set-opener ‘Swamp Thing’, to the hurricane force of ‘A Person Isn’t Safe Anywhere These Days’, expect to be blown away as the band unfurl the enigmatic majesties of their greatest tracks heightened with tempestuous live versions: through ‘Second Skin’, to ‘Soul In Isolation’, to ‘Perfume Garden’.

As a tantalising added bonus, the forthcoming Academy show will welcome back founding Chameleons guitarist Reg Smithies to resume position alongside long-standing ‘Chameleons Vox’ custodian Mark Burgess.

Every year, the Home Is Where The Heart Is… series has seen the influential frontman of Chameleons: Mark Burgess digging deep into the cult band’s coveted back-catalogue to unearth forgotten gems and glittering rarities to perform live to an audience that is growing exponentially year on year. Moving from its spiritual home at Manchester Academy 2 for a one-off celebration at the O2 Ritz, Mark and co. will truly return home to where the heart is in 2020, with the torch returning to the Academy once again for the next instalment.

As in previous years, the annual winter shindig will see Chameleons invite their allies new and old to perform as part of the line up. Next year, revellers can look forward to sets from Kirk Brandon-fronted post-punk heroes Theatre Of Hate, PLUS cult new-wave band B-Movie as both acts round off their 2020 tours at this fixture.
