Cassia release new single, taking their resounding eccentric sound to new heights, ‘Do Right’ marks the beginning of their next chapter as a band and it lands on the 13th March.
After the release of their 2019 debut album ‘Replica,’ Manchester’s indie trio Cassia are about to unleash their next single and kickstart their 2020.
Described by Clash as “an unstoppable force,” their new release is no exception. Living up to their astounding levels of support from some of the biggest names in the business, Rob Ellis, Lou Cotterill and Jacob Leff delve deep into their jangly-pop-rock sound once again. A culmination of global influences that destroy genre boundaries on every level, ‘Do Right’s delicate guitar work and intricate percussion make for an uplifting indie-pop triumph. Not to mention the infectious vocal harmonies that transcend into new levels of sing-along melodies. On the deeper meaning of the track, they added:
“Do Right’ was written in Cape Town where the landscape and culture helped to sculpt the sound and inspire the concept behind the lyrics. The idea for the song was triggered by a conversation I had with my friend Jeremy out there, he described to me in such detail devastating happenings around the world and it made me realize my own lack of awareness. I didn’t know a whole lot about what he was talking about and I felt ashamed. The lyrics draw on the idea that even if you find yourself inattentive to what is going on around you, you can still make that conscious decision to positively change what is happening now. I think understanding that you aren’t yet completely awake is the first step to living a much more fulfilled life.”
Having their music featured at the BAFTA’s, in huge Hollywood movies and across the likes of BBC Radio 1, Radio X, BBC 6 Music and more is now something of the norm for the band, who are quickly becoming one of Manchester’s most exciting exports. With millions of streams across Spotify and Apple Music, multiple playlist inclusions and a whole host of press support, it’s no secret that they’re reaching the ears and hearts of fans on a global scale, resulting in sold out shows at Manchester’s o2 Ritz, Scala, London and SWG3, Glasgow. They’ve taken on the stages of Reading Festival, TRNSMT and Kendal Calling amongst others, and have taken their tropical tones across the UK, Europe and beyond, selling out tours in the process.
In fact, they were nominated for Best Live Act at the Association of Independent Music Awards alongside Idles and DMA’s, putting them amongst some of the most impressive UK exports of modern times. After completing a Maida Vale session and playing over 80 shows last year, it’s clear that Cassia have already earned their place with the big guns but have only just scratched the surface on how far they plan to take everything.
Few three-pieces can lay claim to creating such a diverse, interesting and downright likeable sound, yet Cassia are pioneering addictive jams time and time again. ‘Do Right’ and join them at the start of their next adventure.
