carolesdaughter is the stage name of 18-year-old Thea Taylor, who brilliantly fuses alt-pop anthems with lo-fi glitch, bedroom acoustics, and gutter goth glamour.
“‘My Mother Wants Me Dead’ is a lighthearted take on paranoia and drug induced psychosis, the title and hook couldn’t be more untrue, but that just goes to show how skewed perception can be,” says carolesdaughter.

An outsider since birth, carolesdaughter grew up as one of 10 kids in a strict Mormon household. After seeing a tattoo of the iconic logo, she researched Black Flag online and unlocked the worlds of punk, hardcore, and goth. Bouncing between five different high schools, she started doing drugs, falling down a rabbit hole and taking multiple trips to rehab. On the last trip, she made a promise to pursue music. Now, with millions of streams independently and a deal with Arista Records, carolesdaughter has made a connection with droves of “misfits and alt kids” and turned them into raving fans.
