After the release of two successful singles, British singer/songwriter and producer Cameron Hayes is back with the launch of her highly anticipated debut EP ‘Medicine’.
Featuring the two previous singles, ‘Drown’ and ‘Superego’, the EP is completed by a third powerful and emotive song, serving also as the title track of the release – ‘Medicine’.
“For me, this EP features my three favourite songs I’ve done so far, says Cameron, “each song was written at a different point in my life and it’s lovely to have and reflect on these all together.”
Another dark and brooding piece of music, ‘Medicine’ was written by Cameron and beloved collaborator Rob Macfarlane (Headie One, KSI, Plan B, Chase & Status). The track perfectly compliments the other singles from the EP, completing the package and giving fans an insight into who Cameron Hayes is as an artist.
“Medicine is about coping with the downfall of a relationship, when you harbour feelings of anger and resentment but also sadness as you don’t understand what went wrong, and you’re at the point where you need some form of ‘medicine’ to be able to cope.”
Not your typical pop singer; Cameron’s music is rocky and edgy, showcasing her huge vocal abilities and her poignant songwriting skills, whilst never pigeonholing herself into any one genre. Citing inspiration from artists such as Ashnikko, Oliver Tree, Grandson and Upsahl, her varied and eclectic taste mixed with her classical background can be heard throughout her music.
Also expanding her talents into the world of electronic music, Cameron previously leant her talents to producer/ DJ Dimension for the massive single ‘Devotion’ (7.5million Spotify/ 1.3m YouTube), and more recently is featured on the brand new album by Sub Focus and Wilkinson on the track ‘Enter Night’ (500k Spotify).
Whilst an unconventional year for music has temporarily pressed pause on live events, with standout performances at prestigious venues such as The Bedford and a stunning lockdown Garden Session during summer (YouTube link), the future will certainly hold more of these incredible live shows.
Now armed with the ‘Medicine EP’ under her belt and with more new music to come, 2021 looks set to be a bright year for Cameron Hayes. The EP is out 11th December
