JONES shines in another enticing setting with a new ‘Camera Flash’ remix courtesy of Friend Within. He adds to the song’s exuberant nature, keeping an edge of the original’s modern disco flavour but revamping it as an infectious piano house track packed with melody and late summer energy. Listen HERE.
However she deploys it, JONES’ show-stopping vocal brings class, emotion and finesse in equal measure. It’s something she demonstrated with the energy of her current single, the R&B / electro-pop / disco hybrid ‘Camera Flash’, before putting an elegant, laidback spin on the track with the acoustic version.
“I loved bringing Camera Flash into a different musical world with Friend Within – I’m a big fan of House music so it was great to hear it in this new energised body” says JONES.
Producer and DJ Friend Within has released tracks on numerous influential labels, including Toolroom, Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Records and Rinse. Tracks such as ‘The Renegade’, ‘The Truth’ and ‘The Mechanism’ (alongside Disclosure) have earned him a reputation as a producer’s producer, picking up Radio 1 airplay and support from a who’s who of influential DJs. He’s also an in-demand remixer, with high profile credits include Doja Cat, RÜFÜS DU SOL and A-Trax.
Friend Within’s take on ‘Camera Flash’ is JONES’ second high end remix in recent weeks. Her previous single ‘Giving It Up’ was reworked by her friend and regular collaborator Joe Hertz.
JONES’ return in 2020 has made her a rising star of the UK R&B scene. She recently completed an Amazon Music Session hosted by Jack Howard, adding to airplay from Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Greg James, Mollie King and Scott Mills), Radio 2 (Trevor Nelson and Jo Whiley), 1XTRA and Capital XTRA. Summer Instagram performances have included Fearne Cotton’s My Happy Place Festival and Wonderland, while key playlists at Spotify, Apple and Deezer have further spotlighted her talents.
Originally from Aldgate, east London, JONES’ initial breakthrough included a memorable performance on Later… with Jools Holland, where she shared a table with Tom Jones, and culminated with her accomplished debut album ‘New Skin’. She subsequently focused on refining her sound and her talents – a decision which is now paying dividends.
