Singer-Songwriter, Ana Cristina Cash, has two special releases out now; “Brand New Pair of Shoes,” that is featured on Johnny Cash – Forever Words (Expanded Edition) [available here] and her new Christmas single, “Mele Kalikimaka” [available here].
Ana is featured on the newly released Johnny Cash – Forever Words (Expanded Edition), released through Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.
This project expands on the original Johnny Cash – Forever Words album – a compilation of songs with words written by Johnny Cash and music created by modern artists. Johnny Cash – Forever Words (Expanded Edition) is a digital-only release and includes the original album and 18 new songs. This project includes a re-release of Ana’s song, “Brand New Pair of Shoes.” The song is a co-write between Ana and her father-in-law, Johnny Cash. Ana put music to lyrics written by Johnny Cash himself, to create a jazz-inspired tune. “Brand New Pair of Shoes” was first released on Ana’s album, SHINE, in April 2020. Johnny Cash – Forever Words (Expanded Edition) will be available on all DSPs in four waves.
Produced by John Carter Cash and recorded at the historic Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tenn., Ana Cristina Cash’s new holiday release, “Mele Kalikimaka” is a lively song with a dreamy, tropical melody and lyrical sentiments of trading in the stereotypical wintry Christmas for a sandy beachy one. Made famous by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters in 1950, “Mele Kalikimaka” was written by R. Alex Anderson. The song takes its title from the Hawaiian phrase Mele Kalikimaka, meaning “Merry Christmas.”
The new releases follow Ana’s recent full-length album release, SHINE, released earlier this year (here).
Ana wrote or co-wrote every song on the 14-track album, aside from her two renditions of “Dream” by Roy Orbison and “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson. SHINE has received praise from American Songwriter, Billboard, Entertainment Focus, The Americana Music Association, and many others. In addition to her album’s success, Ana’s work as a co-writer/co-translator for Los Tigres Del Norte is also garnering attention, receiving two nominations for Latin GRAMMYs, in the categories of Best Norteno Album and Best Long Form Music Video. Ana has also landed on the preliminary ballot in several categories, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Country Solo Performance, Best American Roots Performance, and more, for her album SHINE and various tracks that are featured on the album.
