Ben Platt releases the tender new single “Treehouse” featuring GRAMMY®-winning Americana icon — and songwriter of the Tony®-winning Broadway musical Shucked — Brandy Clark via Interscope Records. The delicate ballad is the third single, following the dreamy “Andrew” and the anthemic “Cherry on Top,” from Platt’s hotly anticipated new album Honeymind, due May 31. Pre-order Honeymind HERE. Listen to “Treehouse” below.
“Love is a treehouse,” Platt sings softly over gentle guitar picking. “That you and me house, a little bit closer to heaven.” He then harmonizes with Clark on the rapturous chorus. “Love is a treehouse, one of a kind that you have to see to believe house — all of the climbing is past you and you can breathe now.” The track’s central metaphor — namely, the building of a safe space — perfectly embodies Platt’s goal of depicting loving queer relationships in his music.
“Treehouse” is destined to be one of the highlights of Platt’s upcoming The Honeymind US Tour — after all, Clark is joining him as the tour opener. The collaborators hit the road on June 18, kicking off with a show in Boston, MA, before stopping at marquee venues including the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, two nights at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, and two nights at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON. The North American tour will follow Platt’s exclusive concert residency at Broadway’s recently refurbished Palace Theatre. The residency, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden who collaborated with Ben Platt on the 2023 Tony Award-winning revival of Parade which also earned Platt a Tony nomination, will play Tuesday, May 28 through Saturday, June 15 for 18 performances only.
