Ben Earle of The Shires and Nina Nesbitt share a love of the classic singer-songwriter tradition which provides the grounding for their instantly relatable, emotionally engaging, pop-leaning songs. Those traits all stand tall as the duo explore an intriguing cross-genre collaboration by sharing their new single ‘Make It Easy’. Listen HERE.
‘Make It Easy’, Ben and Nina trade lovelorn verses, each presenting different perspectives in the wake of a break-up – yet they both agree that vowing to stay apart is the only way to cope with the heartbreak. They then bring their voices together for beautifully intertwined vocal harmonies for the song’s heart-breaking hook concluding, “If you want to make it easy, make it hard.”
Ben says, “I usually write most of my songs but the second I was sent Make It Easy, I felt an instant, deep connection to it. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful and the classic Country lyrical twist on the title is brilliant. I’m so happy that Nina is singing with me too. We’ve had a lot of fun nights out in Nashville and she has such a love and understanding of Country. This song has been in my back pocket for 4 years now and I’m so excited it’s finally going to be out in the world”.
Nina adds, “I’ve always been such a huge fan of country music and The Shires, so when Ben asked me to feature on Make It Easy, it was an immediate yes. I fell in love with the song and the way it has that traditional country twist to the lyric. I’ve previously written with Ben for The Shires but it’s great to finally have a duet out in the world”.
‘Make It Easy’ represents the latest collaboration between the two artists. Nina previously co-wrote ‘Not Even Drunk Right Now’ and ‘Other People’s Things’, which both featured on The Shires’ second album, the Gold-certified #3 hit ‘My Universe’.
