AURORA scores her first ever UK Top 10 with new album ‘The Gods We Can Touch’, which has landed at No.8 in the Official UK Album Chart. The critically-acclaimed record, released last Friday on Decca and described as “Euphoric” and “Heavenly” (NME), was last weekend on Spotify the 3rd most streamed new album in the world!
Official Charts Company Chief Executive, Martin Talbot, says,
“Congratulations to Aurora this week on her highest-charting album to date – it is a great achievement to make the Official Albums Chart Top 10, given the strong competition from Meat Loaf (with two albums), Ed Sheeran and Adele, all in the Top 10 too.”
To celebrate the release, AURORA treated her adoring UK fans to several special appearances around the capital city. Hundreds of AURORA’s “Warriors” queued down the street to meet the Norwegian superstar underneath her beautiful Amazon Music mural in Shoreditch with only 12 hours notice. Intimate sold-out shows at Pryzm in Kingston and Rough Trade East took place, as well as a one-off Q&A, hosted by BBC Radio 1’s Arielle Free, before the screening of her ‘global digital experience’ entitled ‘A Touch Of The Divine’.
AURORA has garnered solid support around the singles released from ‘The Gods We Can Touch’ from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2. The album has also seen phenomenal support across all streaming platforms – on Spotify alone, the album has already amassed a whopping 60 million streams. Spotify chose AURORA as their first Enhanced Album of 2022 with billboards displayed in London and New York, while YouTube Music lit up New York’s Times Square with a giant digital billboard.
Proving to be a huge hit internationally, in the US ‘The Gods We Can Touch’ was named as one of the “most anticipated albums of 2022” by Consequence, recommended in LA Times and described as “Divine” in The Washington Post while Billboard names AURORA as “One of the most fascinating people currently making music”. The songstress has also been met with plaudits from tastemakers across the board such as Marie Claire Italy who said, “In 2022, the earth needs an army of AURORAS”.
March and April will see AURORA return to the UK for a headline tour, kicking off at the Town Hall in Birmingham on 27th March, taking her show to Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Manchester, Leeds and Bristol, before the finale at O2 Academy Brixton on 6th April. Shortly after, AURORA heads off to the US and Canada before the last European leg of the tour in June. Buy tickets here.
