After a sublime 2024 setting Ashaine White as one of the UK’s brightest young talents, she kicks off 2025 with the announcement of brand new EP Look What You Made Me Do. The EP will be released May 22nd on 5dB Records and the first taste comes in the shape of new single ‘Let Me Down’ – Listen HERE.
‘Let Me Down’ is another hauntingly beautiful track showcasing Ashaine’s captivating and unique tones. An elegy to the ones that “let you down”, the track is equal parts delicate and raw, building to a chaotic crescendo, encapsulating her grunge infused soul sound. Speaking of the track. “‘Let Me Down’ is a song about the people in your life that are supposed to be for you and on your side, and the realisation that they’re actually against you,” Ashaine says of the track. “You may be frustrated, hurt and angry, but ultimately have to rely on yourself to pick yourself up and carry on.“
A sum greater than its individual parts, Look What You Made Me Do is produced by Gilberto Mallindine-Bettini and recorded at 5dB Studios with additional production from William Wormald on ‘Not My Person’. A rockier edge than her previous releases, the EP is drenched in distorted guitars and Ashaine’s distinctive vocals. Taking influence from a large gene pool of genres, the EP walks the line between early 90s guitar driven rock, the stunning vocal tones of soul music and all with a hint of infectious pop charm.
