‘Pure Good Vibes’? That’s exactly what Ada Morghe delivered when she teamed up with reggae icon Maxi Priest for the lead single from her upcoming album of the same name. The record sees the highly accomplished soul/jazz artist add another string to her bow as she explores the rich musical culture of Jamaica. She now continues that adventure with her latest single ‘Passion Play’ and announces that she will special guest to Billy Ocean on his UK tour which kicks off in June.
Ada Morghe and her band travelled to Jamaica for the ‘Pure Good Vibes’ recording sessions and soon found themselves so immersed in music that they would go days without leaving the studio. ‘Passion Play’ brims with the fervour of those sessions – Ada’s vocal is as beautifully beguiling and emotionally expressive as ever, while the band play with a free-spirit and natural warmth that recalls the wondrously laidback vibes of early Michael Kiwanuka. And its flute provides another sonic motif that will burrough its way into your memory and refuse to let go. Lyrically it’s about the intoxicating allure of love – and the potential pitfalls that come with it. Listen HERE.
The idea behind ‘Pure Good Vibes’ took shape when Ada’s bassist and producer Livingstone Brown headed to Jamaica to work with Maxi Priest. For Ada it was a prospect that was impossible to resist: beautiful scenery, a mellow way of life, and the opportunity to experience Jamaican music first hand with fellow band members Luke Smith (keys) and Josh McNasty (drums), who both have family roots on the island.
The ‘Pure Good Vibes’ album is available to pre-order HERE.
After making a big impression while opening for Roachford across Europe last year. Ada Morghe is set to play her biggest UK shows this summer as support to the legendary Billy Ocean. Her live experience will be perfectly suited to the grandeur and prestige of the tour’s London show at The Royal Albert Hall, while it also includes huge arena shows such as Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live. Thirteen shows are already sold-out months in advance, limited tickets remain for the other four dates.
