Hotly-tipped producer and songwriter Mei River releases the official video for ‘A Story About Getting Lost’ today, taken from his debut EP ‘Tall Trees That Never Fell’, out now via Columbia/Sony Music Germany. Watch the video for ‘A Story About Getting Lost’ below.
‘A Story About Getting Lost’ is an upbeat, percussion-filled track full of smooth electric guitar and piano, matched perfectly with Mei River aka Frederik Eriksson’s melodic voice. Its lyrics depict the desire to get lost in love, although in this instance the love affair isn’t with another person. Of the track, Mei Rivers says “’A story about getting lost’ is a love song to antidepressants. I wrote it when I decided to stop using it, it’s a reminder that I can keep on without them.” The official video, shot in the north of Sweden, features Mei River performing and recording the track live, surrounded entirely by ocean.
Mei River’s debut EP ‘Tall Trees That Never Fell’ was released last week via Columbia/Sony Music Germany. The five-track project serves as an honest exploration of young adulthood, openly confronting topics such as loneliness and prescription drug abuse, tied together in contemporary pop tracks intertwined with elements of funk and exotica. It includes Mei River’s debut single ‘Her’, alongside singles ‘Peter Parker’ and ‘17’, released this year with accompanying visuals co-directed by Mei River himself.
Born Fredrik Eriksson, Mei River is a multi-talented producer, vocalist and songwriter from Sweden. Notion magazine recently deemed him as ‘one of the most exciting new producers, singer/songwriter’s bursting through the Nordic creative scene’. With his debut EP out now and more music to follow this year, fans of the rising artist have much to look forward to.
