You come away from some gigs feeling like you’ve just watched a band play a bunch of songs whereas you come away from a Twenty One Pilots give feeling like you’ve experienced something more than just a gig. Whether you like their music or not, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots make sure that you come away from their live show with your minds blown.
Tonight was the latest stop on their Bandito tour, a world tour in support of their hit album Trench and, with a stage littered with a burning car, rotating drum kits and more, Dun and Joseph made sure this was going to be a night their fans wouldn’t forget. Crowd walkabouts, fire, a stunning light show and more, the pair made sure that every penny spent by this sold-out crowd on the band was repaid with a breath-taking live show. A walkway, a b-stage, platforms above the crowd, the band didn’t restrict their antics to the stage either with fans from front to back all made to feel fully immersed in the Twenty One Pilots live experience.
As for the music, well, with five albums to cover, the set touched on all bases with newer tracks like Jumpsuit and Levitate kicking off the set along with the likes of Stressed Out and Trees from their back catalogue. Performing the likes of Neon Gravestones from the aforementioned B-Stage, any fan who hadn’t got their ticket for what will be the headline-grabbing set of the Summer when the group play at Reading & Leeds, will surely want to rectify that having witnessed this incredible display.
