After a week of gigs that has seen the likes of the Stereophonics, Tom Grennan and Kylie Minogue grace the stage at Lytham Festival, the tenth anniversary celebrations came to a close in truly remarkable style as the Hollywood Proms took over Lytham with a cast led by big names such as Sheridan Smith and Michael Ball.
As with all the nights, the festival site was packed out with fans joining in what has been a week of magnificent gigs and, given the bar had been set ridiculously high by the appearance of pop superstar Kylie Minogue as part of the celebrations, the Hollywood Proms had to make sure the anniversary was given a truly glitzy send off. Thankfully, organisers and performing artists didn’t disappoint with Smith wowing the crowd as she appeared sporting a new orange hair cut. However, it wasn’t just Smith’s new punky haircut that was the talk of the festival, as a selection of crowd-pulling guests joined in the celebrations including Collabro and members of the stage version of Dreamgirls while local opera singer Jo Appelby made sure that her performance was one her family, friends and fans wouldn’t forget with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem.
Performing alongside Smith was Michael Ball a man who needs no introduction and who adds a touch of class to any event while members of Blackpool’s Tramshed Theatre Company almost stole the show with their performance. The two half show was filled with massive hits from a selection of equally huge films and musicals. Sounds from Les Miserables, West Side Story, A Star Is Born and Greatest Showman filled the air as the celebrations and Lytham Festival 2019 came to an end in truly magnificent fashion.
With fireworks filling the night sky as the festival came to an end, fans headed home leaving with a stack of unforgettable memories and the hope that, even after ten years, this was just the start for Lytham Festival.
