Ludovico Einaudi Live at the London Palladium review by Ryan Beardsley

Ludovico Einaudi the world’s most beloved and accessible Classical artist is at the London Palladium via a quick stop off at St Pancras Station (totally gutted I missed that one but see his Instagram) for a sold out show to introduce his new band, and what a talented assortment it is.

He’s here to showcase his latest album, The Summer Portraits, a record that you can buy on eco-friendly FSC-certified materials, the climate activist putting his money where his mouth is in an important gesture.

It’s a true privilege to watch such a talented pianist and composer in his element, despite being derided by many in the Classical community, Ludovico Einaudi has introduced this music to so many and cultivated a huge following despite protestations of Guardian reading snobs, so what’s not to love?

The performance is breathtaking throughout, his new band are awe inspiring to an individual, special mention to the classical guitarist whose name I cannot locate, he threatened to steal the show at times with his skillful and charismatic performance.

As a collective it was pure emotion brought to life through the power of music in a way that makes the hairs on your neck stand up, your heart pump like it’s going to explode out of your chest, and casts your mind back to moments past in an experience that only exceptional live music can provoke.

By the time the band finish the set with the much adored Experience, there are tears aplenty in the audience as those present acknowledge one another in the awareness that they have witnessed a transcendent moment that has been shared and will never be forgotten.

Go and see this amazing band while you have the chance, and take someone with you who might not be ‘into classical music’ whilst you’re at it, you just might change somebody’s life.
