North Yorkshire’s Deer Shed Festival have shared more details of their comedy, arts, theatre, sports and family programme ahead of their 12th edition this July. Boasting a bold, diverse and eclectic programme of some of the most exciting emerging acts in the country, alongside firm favourites and big names, Deer Shed have quietly become a leading space for essential comedy and theatre in Yorkshire.
Deer Shed boasts a three day comedy line up with a mix of PG and 14+ rated performances. Full of fresh faces pushing the art form forward and stopping by on their way to Edinburgh as well hilarious and beloved mainstays of stand-up, known and loved for appearances on the nation’s favourite variety and panel shows. Joining the line up today are a host of comedians including everyone from TV favourites Suzi Ruffell, Paul Foot, Brett Domino Trio and Jayde Adams to leading live figures like self-described ‘Anarchist comedy-wizard’ Andrew O’Neill, comedian, presenter & broadcaster Aurie Styla and rising star Njambi McGrath alongside many others.
Also joining the comedy line up is the “Podfather” Richard Herring who will be bringing his always excellent RHLSTP podcast to the fields for a live recording featuring a very special guest TBC while British comedy institution Chortle are teaming up with Deer Shed on their Comedy Book Club.
Deer Shed’s exciting shows and theatre programme has become one of the big reasons so many families flock to Baldersby Park each year. From Drag shows to vogueing, hilarious live game shows raising awareness of life with a disability, household comedians being hoisted into trees to improvise sets and a good old fashioned royal rumble wrestling show with colourful costumes, characters and capes, Deer Shed is teaming with things to see, do and explore for all ages.
These new acts all join the previously announced music line-up, including three main stage headliners John Grant, Nadine Shah & Django Django as well as other artists including Self Esteem, Dry Cleaning, Yard Act, Billy Nomates, Snapped Ankles, Alfa Mist and many more.
As the family-friendly festival prepares to make it’s full-return for the first time since 2019, there will also be a Science Tent packed with excited activities including Delia Derbyshire Workshop, Gizmobots and Synth Building, while a huge sports field will host wrestling, tag archery, skate boarding, BMXing, circus, parkour, kayaking, tree climbing, crazy golf, football, DIY sports and many more.
For the youngest Deer Shed attendees, the festival has confirmed the return of the magical Wilder Wild area and a brand new area for under-5’s, including soft play sensory sessions, raves, crafty workshops and interactive theatre.
