Pioneering Co-Operative Music Forum & New Music Festival BEYOND THE MUSIC has announced the first details of its groundbreaking conference, introduced the inaugural ‘Future of Music’ village, and shared the first wave of artists and stage partners playing across the iconic northern quarter grass roots venues.

Under the strapline: The Music Industry’s Great Reset, and hot on the tails of their highly successful debut in 2023, the trailblazing four day event will ask: is it time for the Music Industry’s Great Reset? Bringing together leading music and content industry leaders, activists, politicians, and grassroots representatives, the second edition of Beyond The Music will take place from 9-12 OCTOBER 2024. 2024 sees the expand and elevate their conference beyond what’s been seen before. Hosted at the landmark new cultural venue run by Factory International, Aviva Studios, this year’s panels are organised into a series of topical summits spanning Economics, Grassroots, Misogyny, AI, The Future of Music, Emerging Markets, and Classical, Hip Hop, and Electronic music. The following panel titles were announced today: The New Economic Frontier: Building The New Music Industry Paradigm, Growing The Grassroots: How Cross-Industry Investment Can Save The Music Ecosystem, Misogyny In Music: The Truth, Artificial Intransigence: Where’s Out AI Copyright Law?, I Never Meant To Hurt You: A Future Of Music: Imagined, The Future Is A Foreign Country: How Emerging Markets Are Rebooting The Music Business.

This year’s landmark summits will be joined by a selection of Talks that revisit the progress made since last year’s event including A New Dawn – The Live Music Update, #ENDTHEBURNOUT – The Mental Health Initiative, Green Bill of Health – The Industry’s Climate Update, The Tom Gray Address. Alongside these talks will be keynotes with innovators and forward-thinkers, networking opportunities and ‘how to…’ sessions. The conference will bring together the best in the business in their newly announced partners so far – Musician’s Union, MMF, LIVE, BPI, PRS, PPL, Black Music Coalition, EarthPercent and Music Support – to shine a light on the music industry’s biggest obstacles and identify meaningful solutions.

Already boasting a packed conference schedule, the festival has advanced further with the introduction of The Future of Music Village – a showcase of the best in music innovation and visionaries in the tech industry. With resources for people of all experience levels, The Future of Music Village will bring the best in the business together in a fully interactive convention style sharing of expertise.

By night, the festival takes over some of the most iconic grass roots venues in Manchester’s famous Northern Quarter for an unparalleled celebration of new and exciting talent from across the world and across genres. This year, Beyond The Music have announced their support of Chai Wallahs’ ‘Drop A Headliner’ campaign, by renouncing the traditional festival format, they instead turn their focus to supporting talent from across all levels and nurturing up and coming artists. This year, Beyond The Music’s stage partners include the likes of BBC Introducing, NQ, Manchester Pride, Nice Swan, Clash, and The South Asian Music Summit. The festival earlier issued a call out for new artists to perform at the 2024 edition. Their desire to empower and equip attendees and performers with knowledge and a space for honest conversation has extended to their lineup, with their open call to artists breaking down more barriers and investing in accessibility.
