All Points East returns for 2022, with an epic line up of world class headliners, guests and some big exclusives. Today one of the country’s most heralded acts Gorillaz announce the complete line up for their huge UK festival exclusive show on Friday 19 August, with a host of special guests including Turnstile, Knucks, Ibeyi, Ibibio Sound Machine, Nia Archives, Willow Kayne and Kills Birds. They join previously announced guests IDLES, Yves Tumor, Self Esteem, Femi Kuti, Obongjayar, NewDad, Remi Wolf and Gabriels.
Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s spectacular crew of virtual misfits lands in Victoria Park to open All Points East this summer, fresh from the success of acclaimed album Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez and recent EP Meanwhile. 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs and guitar prodigy Noodle burst onto the global stage in 2000, following a collision of mishaps, meetings and pure luck to blow up a pre-digital world with their colourful backstory, ground-breaking musical innovation and thrilling live performance, and the biggest virtual band on the planet is bigger than ever.
Joining previously announced Bristolian 5 piece IDLES as special guests are Turnstile, the Stateside hardcore punks are coming to London off the back of their European tour. Recent record Glow On hit the No.1 spot on the US Hard Rock charts, following their first major label release, 2018’s Time & Space, being named one of the ‘Best Albums That Shaped the 2010s’ by GQ.
London’s own Knucks also joins the line-up, after making a name for himself with his West African-inspired skits and unorthodox style. Selling out show after show and after supporting Not3s and Wretch 32 on tour, with his new project Alpha Place dropping on 6th May expect big things from this rapper-on-the-rise when he performs in Victoria Park.
Sisters Ibeyi head to All Points East after the long-awaited release of their upcoming album Spell 31, their first in five years. The Afro-French Cuban duo, Lisa and Naomi, sing in multiple languages including Yoruba, a language spoken by their ancestors back in the 1700s. With their new album, a recent track with Pa Salieu and a song with Jorja Smith on the horizon, their performance in August is bound to be unforgettable.
Also on the bill are electronic afro-funk band Ibibio Sound Machine, DIY spirited and visual artist Nia Archives, hip-hop duo Paris Texas, pop provocateur Willow Kayne and American rockers, Kills Birds.
Gorillaz headline as a UK festival exclusive on Friday 19 August, opening two huge weekends for All Points East. APE Presents: Field Day returns on Saturday 20 August with a jaw dropping double headliner featuring two of electronic music’s biggest ever names, The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk. The following weekend sees the highly anticipated Tame Impala (Thursday 25 August), the welcome return of The National (Friday 26 August), essential UK dance duo Disclosure (Saturday 27 August) and one of the greatest live acts performing today, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (Sunday 28 August).
Remaining in August but reverting to its double weekends format, All Points East 2022 takes place on Friday August 19 and Saturday August 20th and then the whole August bank holiday weekend from Thursday August 25th to Sunday August 28th. Once again, the festival is the place to experience the greatest nights of music from the world’s best live acts and discover your new favourite bands.
