Having recently released his new single, “Count On You”, Uk-based singer-songwriter Shaun Farrugia is heading into a busy 2023. Produced by Jacob Manson (Ed Sheeran, Rudimental, Louis Tomlinson), the single shows off an alternative noughties inspired guitar hook set against Shaun’s powerhouse vocals.
His debut single ‘I Don’t Wanna Fall Asleep Yet’, amassed over 400,000 plays, and gathered the support of Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 (“This guy, he has a special voice”), PopJustice, Daily Star and more while his cover of The Weeknd’s Billboard Chart topping #1 hit Blinding Lights flew straight to #1 on the Shazam Discovery Charts, after featuring on Love Island.
Original from Malta, the 26-year-old Maltese native dropped his life on the island to fly to London in 2019. Having quit his job, sell everything he owned, Shaun showed up on the doorstep of Sigala after being invited to come and meet the producer during an Instagram Live.
The gamble paid off as Shaun was quickly snapped up by Polydor and, well, the rest is history. Recently, TotalNtertainment got the opportunity to speak to Shaun Farrugia so we spoke to him about his dreams, the challenge of moving from Malta to London and what he learned from the whole experience, how he felt seeing his single go viral and much more.
With plenty more still to come from Shaun in 2023 including more new music, check out the interview with the man himself below.
