This summer has seen Kevin Davy White take his heady brew of blues, funk, soul and ragged classic rock on the road, taking in huge outdoor shows as guest to Lionel Richie and Gabrielle as well as festival dates from the Montreux Jazz Festival to Weyfest. This month sees him start his UK tour following the release of his debut album ‘Keep Dreaming Wild’. Kevin Davy White took some time out of his busy schedule to speak to us, keep reading to see what he had to say.
1. Thanks for your time. How are things going since your debut album released recently?
Merci beaucoup for your time as well. Since my debut album was released I had so many new fans and good feedback. It is setting me very well for cooking my second album!
2. On the subject of the title, what was your dream when you first started out as a musician?
My dream is to feel free and happy while doing my passion. It is so important to me to be an artist and connect with people through music. Giving everyone some good vibrations
3. Listening to your debut album what are your most proud of about it?
Can I say the album is what I am most proud of?
I did it all by myself. Learned so many things in the process of making it. I am also proud of bringing my roots into my passion for the blues and rock. Roots and No Superhero are the product of it.
4. Early on in your career you moved from Paris to London, how do you think that changed your career?
It changed my career in the right direction. The UK has been brewing rock music for so long. It just felt right to live here and go hard on this very crowded industry. If you can make a wave through that saturated business. You better get your balance and ride it.
5. You’ve also been on The Voice and X-Factor, what did you take away from both experiences?
I had so much fun. What a show. I am also very glad that I knew myself as an artist before entering this competition. It just gave me exposure and good opportunities.
6. Now the album is out, you’ve got a tour coming up in November. What are you most excited about?
I’m even more excited now that my acoustic tour has been transformed into a full-band show. So it had to be postponed to next year May.
The tickets are already on sale via my website. I am preparing an excellent show for you all. I wanted to do these shows with my musicians so I changed the dates to May 2024.
7. What is your favourite and least favourite thing about touring?
My least favourite thing is to be away from my family. Otherwise, I love touring. Being with my band. Meeting all those people. It is just a concentration of good vibrations.
8. You’ve done a couple of charity gigs recently, how did you get involved in those and what do those particular charities mean to you?
As I already mentioned. It is my motto to live my life through music and connecting with people.
I don’t have much power but music has this ability to go beyond words. And to do this while helping others. It is the best combo.
9. Just for fun now, do you think animals dream and, if so, what do you think they dream about?
Haha, I guess they’re dreaming of feasting like humans do. And dreaming of flying. I don’t know why but this is what I think.
10. Just to wrap up, thanks again for your time, how would you sum up 2023 and what can we expect from you in 2024?
My 2023 was full of new steps in my career. I would say that my music has began a new paste. Next year you can expect to see me playing everywhere. Thanks to my tour and summer festivals. Also, stay tuned for new songs to come.
Merci beaucoup for your time it was my pleasure to speak to you.
