Following a smash hit two week run at London’s Soho Theatre last year, before the pandemic put a halt on all live performances, one of the nation’s most exciting stand up stars, the multi award nominated Dane Baptiste, has now announced the rescheduled dates for the rest of his tour.
Earlier this year Dane created, wrote and hosted his own BBC Three/BBC One comedy show BAMOUS, an unashamedly provocative show centred on the NASBLAQ, a mythical stock index for black and famous talent. The show was a huge critical success, watched by over 700K for the BBC One TX and becoming one of the Top 10 rated comedy shows of the week that The i marked its “hilarious gags” and that Beyond The Joke stated “could not come at a more timely point.”
The Chocolate Chip continues with the stand up’s trademark original and provocative style. Dane is now a Grown Ass Black Man. Too old to be concerned with chicken or trainers. Too young to be considered a peer of Trevor McDonald.
This show will see the acerbic comedian tackle race in his typically unfiltered, original and provocative manner. “Normally if you make any comments about racial inequality or economic inequality people will say you have a chip on your shoulder,” Dane Baptiste says. “So I’m embracing that chip and calling it Chocolate Chip.”
Star of his own hit podcast Dane Baptiste Questions Everything. As seen on Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, BAMOUS, Sunny D, Live at the Palladium…pretty much all over your TV screen.
