Multiple award winner and Edinburgh favourite Andrew Maxwell is set to tour his latest critically acclaimed show entitled ‘Showtime’ in 2019, after a hugely successful première last year at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show sold out its month-long run at the 600 capacity Assembly George Square Theatre. This is Andrew’s first UK tour in nearly a decade and takes in 39 dates across the UK.
“I’m excited to get back around the country as it’s been years now! UK I’m coming to get you!” ANDREW MAXWELL
Channeling the spirit of his breakthrough award winning show ‘This is my Hour’ – ‘Showtime’ matches that burning sense of urgency that we deserve entertainment in the times we live in. If we’ve learned anything over the last year or two it’s that you shouldn’t take anything for granted. From political gambling with all the variables and the very likelihood of robots taking over the world; this show is about all things we SHOULD be discussing as opposed to immigration, globalisation and populism.
He sees 2017/18 as a ‘hostage of fortune’, with Scotland’s future being up in the air as well as England’s thanks to Brexit, and the US’s with Trump, Putin and of course the current Middle East crisis. He blames baby boomers that throw their toys out of the pram by voting for Trump and Brexit. He feels that we should trust the millenials, bullshit detectors who care about their own future and who are getting it right – and look forward not back.
Andrew thinks we should show up – put the effort in and go all out to make things happen. People are too dispassionate, too complacent, resting on their laurels and he wants people to wake up and smell the coffee and go BIG!
Renowned for his cutting-edge comedy and intrepid social commentary, Andrew is also the recognisable voice of MTV’s hit show Ex On The Beach, which is now airing its 8th series, and appears on Radio 4 with his show ‘Welcome To Wherever You Are’, as the host of ‘Andrew Maxwell’s Public Enemies’ and as a regular on ‘The News Quiz’. Having the ear of both the youth and older audience Andrew is best placed to get all ages to stand up and be counted. This year he is leaving nothing to chance.
As seen on Live At The Apollo (BBC One), Have I Got News For You (BBC One), Celebrity Juice (ITV2) and Mock The Week (BBC Two). He is also the voice of Get Your Tats Out: Kavos Inc (Channel 5).
Throughout his career, Andrew has had many sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has also performed at The Amnesty / Channel Four’s Secret Policeman’s Ball (alongside Eddie Izzard, Chevy Chase and Dylan Moran), Glastonbury, Kilkenny’s Cat Laughs, The HBO US Comedy & Arts Festival in Las Vegas (alongside Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock), and made several appearances at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. He recently was special guest to friend Jim Jefferies for his Hammersmith Apollo dates in London. He is also a founder member of ALTITUDE, a comedy festival staged in the Alps. Andrew has recorded three Live DVDs with 2Entertain (Conflict Revolution, Andrew Maxwell: Live In Dublin & Andrew Maxwell: One Inch Punch).
