Glenn Tilbrook will be supporting local charity, Merseyside Youth Association (MYA), by encouraging donations for the charity’s food bank when he visits The Epstein Theatre on Tue 20 November as part of his upcoming solo tour.
Food drop points and collection boxes will be set up at the theatre where food donations can be made. Donations can also be taken to MYA reception located at 65-67 Hanover Street. The food bank is open every Wednesday from 1pm-3pm.
Items currently needed include: cereal, soup, pasta, rice, noodles, tinned tomatoes/pasta sauce, tinned beans, tinned meat, tinned fruit and vegetables, biscuits/snack bars and UHT milk.
Glenn Tilbrook says “It is shameful that in the 21st century there are people that can’t afford to put food on the table. Anyone, from any walk of life, can fall upon dire times, and I hope that by doing this tour it will remind people that there is a very real need. Most of us can do something to help – be it giving some food or a little money – and I hope people coming to the shows are inspired to donate.”
MYA is designed by young people for young people, providing a wide variety of services to the ages of 16 to 25 including emotional support and signposting into relevant services, courses, activities & programmes.
Gill Bainbridge, CEO of MYA said: “We are truly grateful for Glenn’s commitment to raising awareness for local charities including MYA, and for the support from the staff at the Epstein Theatre in making this possible.
“Due to recent high demand and with Christmas approaching anything festive would also be extremely welcome including unwanted gift sets, toiletries and chocolate. The smallest of donation can make a big difference to the young people that MYA supports.”
Throughout the rest of the tour, Tilbrook will be promoting awareness and donations for The Trussel Trust, a charity that supports food bank networks across the UK. Food donated at each venue will be collected and distributed to the nearest Trussell Trust foodbank.
Foodbanks provide a minimum of three-days’ nutritionally balanced, non-perishable tinned and dried foods that have been donated by the local community.
Glenn Tilbrook comes to The Epstein Theatre on Tuesday 20 November.
